Here are some numbers that you may find helpful:
Assume that the current group of contributors includes 100 people, and you want to pledge at least 101 Euro. By doing so, you help to increase the current square of 10000 to 10201. If, however, you specify a higher maximum contribution of, say, 200, then you will enable a square of 40000 Euro, provided that we find enough other people to do the same. Or, even better, if you specify a maximum contribution of 1000, then your maximum square would be as large as 1 Million Euro.
And so on – it’s really worth it.
